Driving Lisence forms and diabetes.

God this is a pain in the damn backside.

Okay, okay, so I'm diabetic and my request for a license maybe needs a bit more consideration because of it, but come on DVLA, I sent you my application over a month ago, you had all my details. I gave you all the details of my GP, you said it would take an extra 10 days for you to contact them, here I am 15 days after that letter, to find youve sent me yet another lot of forms.

It is taking the total piss.

I am diabetic, to do this I just need to keep a close eye on sugars especially when driving, why is it taking you so long to send me my provisional? I arent blind, or I dont have one leg or anything that normally affects my ability to drive, DVLA you are taking the flipping mick.

I understand the need for more caution, truly I do, but this is just a few steps too far, my friends got their provisionals within a few weeks, im still damn waiting for mine!

Keep smiling.

Love, Tutti-Frutti.

  1. DVLA are a bunch of tossers. I moved home recently. I therefore sent my licence up to have the address changed.

About a month later I recieved a letter from them saying "We have made a mistake on your licence. Could you please send it back so that we can make the necessary amendments" Still no licence.

About a week after that I recieved another letter. "Since you have not returned your licence to us as requested it has now been revoked."

I phoned them up and pointed out I'm a bus driver and really need that licence. Furthermore they still haven't sent it back to me so I can't send it back to them. They said "Sorry nothing we can do, you'll have to fill in form D1 to request a replacement for your lost licence"

So I get form D1 from the post office and request the replacement. Much later after many phone calls I finally get my licence back BUT guess what? It no longer covers me to drive busses. It's just a plain vanilla car licence.

I call them again and point out their mistake. They then tell me it's MY fault. I should not have filled in form D1 it should have been form D2.

So I then go down the post office and find that form D2 is not available from them. I call DVLA again and they tell me "That's right, if you need form D2 we have to send it to you. You should have asked for it."

A few weeks later I finally get form D2 and fill it in and send it off. I finally get my licence back and get back to work having missed 4 months of work without pay.

Furthermore I have been unable to claim unemployment benefit as my boss has kept my job open the entire time.

We're still struggling to get the bills up to date and repay all the kind souls that have loaned us money to survive.
